How do I turn on my water account?
Water accounts are activated by visiting City Hall, with a valid ID.  All residential accounts require a deposit of $140.00 with a $10.00 service fee, for a total of $150.00.  Commercial accounts require a $210.00 deposit with a $10.00 service fee, for a total of $220.00
What should I do with my yard waste?
Place it five feet from the curb on your property, near where you place your household trash for pick-up. Only yard waste placed on property with an active water account will be picked up. Do not place yard waste or trash on vacant lots or other property with no active account, as it will not be picked up. Piles should be less than five cubic yards, with branches less than five feet long and six inches in diameter. Bag or bundle leaves and other loose waste. Solid Waste Services will pick up yard waste each Wednesday.
How do I get old appliances picked up?
Call Florida Refuse Services at 294-8778 and asked them to schedule a pick-up time. There is no charge for this service.
How many times a week is my household garbage collected?
Household garbage and recyclables are collected once each week. Call the Public Works Department at 863-421-3777 for the pickup schedule for your area.
What do I do with my old tires?
Tires without the rim can be placed five (5) feet from the curb where you normally place your garbage can. Residents are allowed four (4) tires each year for disposal.
My garbage was not picked up on my regularly scheduled day.
Place all garbage containers for residential service out no earlier than 12 hours prior to 6:00 am on the scheduled day of collection. Should your garbage container be missed, telephone the Public Works Department at 863-421-3777.
How do I get a library card?
Bring proof of your current street address in Polk County and fill out an application form.  There is no charge for a library card as long as you live in Polk County.
